SECURE Act (Finally) Passes Senate!

| Dec 21, 2019 | Firm News |

The SECURE Act (see my July 9th Blog post) finally was passed by the Senate (as part of the spending bill) paving the way for President Trump’s signature. Sorry to rush you, the most significant change by the SECURE Act for our estate planning clients is the elimination of the “stretch” IRA in favor of the “10-year rule.” This change will decrease/impact wealth transfer and require estate plan updates; the critical issue is the effective date: 1/1/20.  For more information on what to do now, stay tuned for a blog update on Monday with more guidance and info.
